(I amaze housewife!)

The amount of the information or rumors about the hospitals among housewives has surprised me recently.
When I had a chat with some housewives, I found how much they have exchanged the information or reputations about the OOO clinic in details. There are so various topics, for instance, the internal medicine dept., the orthopedics dept., the dentist, dermatology, gynecology, bone-setting clinic, names of nurses and so on.
Naturally, though everything cannot be trusted because there are their own subjectivities, the amount of information or reputation is splendid.
Moreover, there is very clear that each person want a doctor to do.
The person asked the doctor at the lecture meeting before, “Please teach me how to distinguish a good doctor and a bad one.”
The doctor who was a professor of the university answered, “A doctor who doesn’t give the medicine as much as possible and one more thing, who has a good reputation, is a good doctor.” I sent the applause to him in the mind because of his simple answer.

(Where, when, by whom, is the inspection undergone?)

There are various comments as below: “I don’t know when to be inspected because I’m fine so far.” “Though I had an inspection once a month, the advanced-stage cancer was found two years later.” “As I smoke the cigarette, I went to the medical examination for the lung cancer. However, I was actually a pancreas cancer.”　　“Only I was inspected as many as five times once a week, my appeal was not accepted at all.”
As my mother had pains in her chest, she was tested in 5 or 6 hospitals. But no abnormality was observed in any of the tests. One hospital even referred her to a department of psychosomatic medicine because nothing was detected in the test.
The local GP discovered the cause which was the advanced-stage pancreatic cancer already.
I felt that it is very important when, where and by whom to be inspected.
It is an age when one every three people dies of cancer now.
Nobody can be asserted to become a cancer nowadays.

(Don’t overlook the yellow light.)

If I am asked the question what kind of person should be tested once a year, my general answers are following below.
1. Person who accumulates stress for a long time
2. Person whose lifestyle is irregular (sleep and meal)
3. Person whose symptom is different from everyday
4. Person who is over 50 years old
5. Person whose parents, brothers and sisters are cancer

However, I recommend going to the hospital to the patients who are very nervous and want to be tested. If there are nothing change at patient’s vital points of the pulse, the tongue , and the body even after the acupuncture and according to the patient’s appeals, I recommend going to the hospital positively too.
There are many patients who are stiff neck, lumbago, paralysis of one side of the body, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and cancer coming to our clinic.
Simple stiff neck and lumbago sometimes hide the serious illness.
There was a person who came to our clinic because of lumbago. As I was anxious about the symptom and the opinion in the Oriental medicine, I recommended going to the hospital. Later the advanced-stage cancer was found.

Actually when you improve your daily-lifestyle and relieve stress with sports or anything, if there are nothing changes before and after, you should notice it is a yellow light.
If you rely on medicines in any cases, you will not be able to know which the yellow light is.

(Warm-hearted medical treatment)
In Oriental medicine, we listen to the patient whose life-style and personality actually touch the patient. We try to find the unbalance that neither the spirit nor the body is separated.
In Western medicine, the sickness is found by the various inspections.
There are important things which are at least needed both Western and Oriental medicines though I think both are necessary in the current medical treatment.
To touch the diseased part of the patient
To be indulgent to the patient
To give the word with the warm-hearted
These seem to be natural but a lot of opposite in the reality.
I feel strongly that a technology and a theory are based on these.

When friend’s mother was carried into the hospital by the ambulance this year, the doctor at that time said to us that are out in a hurry while watching the PC. I’ve never forgot his voice and appearance.

The one of the main task as a doctor is to make the patient demonstrate the full of ability of mind and body to repulse the sickness. This is said by Dr. Norman Cousins, who used to be a professor in Medicine Dept. and also as a journalist in the U.S.
